Integration

One of the best ways to save time is to get your website to play nicely and automatically with the rest of your business.

We call this "Integration" and whilst it usually has some technical aspects, some of the best ones are non-technical.

If you have a contact form on your website, it might be appropriate to deliver a copy of those messages to anyone else in your team involved in the process.  In an ideal world, you'd have different contact forms for different parts of your site and delivery different messages directly to the appropriate team members (eg sales, marketing, tech support and so on)

But why stop there?  Each contact is a potential lead.  If you have a CRM system why not insert the contact details into that system directly so you don't have to manually copy and paste them.

Tools like Zapier are made to do this job.  Yes they come at a cost, but when you balance that cost against time saved and removing any chance of manual/human error, the costs.  Zapier starts with a free tier so you can do up to 100 zaps a month (and if you're getting more than 100 leads a month you can probably afford their next level Starter tier!

Good integration between your website and business should work both ways so that your business can provide good information to automatically update your site and your site can automatically insert information into the right places in your business without the need to manually copy and paste it, it might also include things like:

  • Z Product details
  • Z Stock information
  • Z Delivery/Courier details
  • Z Pricing
  • Z Contact forms and notifications
  • Z Diary availability

Whilst Zapier and other similar software have some great functionality to directly connect things together, as your business grows and demands more from systems integration, it's likely you won't always want a direct connection - you'll probably want to adjust things or manually approve some things first.

In this case, you're probably going to need some custom development - here it is probably better to get some expert help!
